About Us
There are vein specialists, and there are vascular surgeons. Luckily for his patients, James W. Geuder, M.D., is both. Dr. Geuder is a board-certified vascular surgeon specializing in varicose veins, venous disorders, spider vein treatment, and circulation disorders. He has practiced vascular surgery in Bergen County for 25 years.
Dr. Geuder is an attending surgeon at Hackensack University Medical Center and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. We work hard to provide a comfortable, friendly environment at the Vein Center of Oradell. We have an ICAVL-approved vascular lab that allows for immediate testing with an accurate diagnosis.
An important role as your doctor is to educate you about your condition and treatment options. It is important to understand what is wrong and what should be done.
Most vein procedures can be performed in the office and with local anesthesia, if necessary. Dr. Geuder also treats patients at Hackensack University Medical Center and outpatient surgery centers if anesthesia or more involved procedures are necessary.
“Many people tolerate varicose veins in spite of their discomfort and appearance,” said Dr. Geuder. “The thought of vein stripping, anesthesia and recovery may seem worse than the problem. Thanks to modern, non-invasive treatments – such as laser or VNUS closure – that is no longer the case. Patients have their treatments in the office under local anesthesia and return to normal activity afterward. It is very gratifying to see patients’ symptoms and veins disappear after a minor office procedure.”

I was experiencing pain, swelling, and difficulty bending my leg, due to varicose veins behind my knee, and at the top of my right calf. Dr. Geuder was referred to me by a trusted foot surgeon, who has been my client for over twenty years. Dr. Geuder is not only an excellent doctor, he, and his staff, Donna and Patty, are all exceptional professionals, who are not only efficient but warm and caring, as well. I feel extremely lucky to have found Dr. Geuder. I’m a 67-year-old male that has suffered with varicose veins since my late 20’s. I had phlebectomies performed on both legs decades ago. I recently had some leg swelling and pain. The first doctor that I visited started scheduling me for procedures after a 30-second visual examination. This didn’t seem right so I started looking for another doctor. I lucked out and found Doctor Geuder. I explained that I was there for health not cosmetic reasons. Dr. Geuder and his staff performed a thorough examination that included ultrasound. Following the exam, he explained that I had “superficial phlebitis”. He personally showed me videos and images that helped explain. At the end of my visit, he recommended that we do nothing but monitor the situation. If it persisted, I should come back in a few months. The condition has not persisted. I’m healthy, was not needlessly cut and didn’t miss any of the outdoor running and tennis season. I highly recommend Dr. Geuder and his staff. He is a really skillful doctor, and I was delighted with the results after he treated my varicose veins. My legs have never looked so clear in years, nor have they been as pain-free. I have suffered for years with varicose veins and been treated in other offices, but I’ve never had such a good outcome. Dr. Geuder, Patti, and Donna are friendly and make you feel so welcome, that the visits are not something to be dreaded, and Dr. Geuder is so skilled at performing sclerotherapy that I experienced virtually no pain.
